I ran across this March 1959 “Speed Mechanics” magazine. I don’t have scans of the full article right now, I’ll have to see if I can find the magazine in my stash and scan the text. What I do have are the most important two pages — the first one showing where to cut to fit a V-8 in a 50-55 Nash Rambler or a 58-63 Rambler American, and the second showing a few details, like “a ’55 Chevy (exhaust) manifold is fitted on right bank and a ’57 manifold on left.” There are also photos showing the motor mounts. Note that this is a 55-57 283 with front and rear mounts, not a modern SBC with mid engine mounts and a transmission mount. For one of those I suggest something like a Speedway Motors universal Chevy crossmember (bottom picture).
